RSV 감염증은 영유아, 고령자 및 면역저하자에게 모세 기관지염이나 폐렴 등 하기도 감염을 일으키며, 접촉과 호흡기 비말을 통해 쉽게 전파되기 때문에, 특히 신생아실과 산후조리원에 커다란 위협임

RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) 감염증의 정의

RSV(Respiratory Syncytial Virus; 호흡기 세포융합 바이러스) 감염증은 감염 후 모세 기관지염과 폐렴으로 진행되며, 소아, 고령자 등의 사망위험이 증가하고 심각한 합병증을 유발함

만 2세까지 거의 모든 소아가 감염되는데, 1세 미만 유아 사망의 주원인이며, 한 번 감염되면 평생 동안 지속적으로 재감염 되며, 고령자 및 면역저하자에게는 중증 감염을 유발함

신생아실, 산후조리원 및 어린이집 등이 가장 큰 위험에 노출되어 있으며, 현재 예방백신이나 항바이러스제가 없음
